Tēnā koutou,

Herenga ā Nuku Aotearoa, the Outdoor Access Commission, warmly invites you to our next Trail Makers Hui on Thursday, 29 August, starting at noon. The Zoom link will be open from 11.45 am for introductions, so please do join us if you have time.

Topic:  Funding basics – understanding how to secure funds for your trail projects

Marcia Millard will give an overview of the different types of funding available to groups, what funders are looking for, how being a legal entity can affect funding choices, and who/where you could approach to fund your trail project.  She will also provide links to useful resources and sources of information.

Marcia is a seasoned community development professional who has worked with start-up and established groups of all sizes.  Most recently, she was manager of the Wheelhouse Project in Taranaki – A collaborative project with the purpose of developing strong, sustainable community organisations by improving governance and leadership. Currently, she is contracting to the community sector,  working part-time in the aged and environment sectors, volunteering in her own community and member of three funding distribution committees.

The session will provide you with an opportunity to share how you have found your funding journey. If you have any specific questions about funding, please send them to partners@herengaanuku.govt.nz, and we will aim to cover them at the hui.

Please pass on this invite to those who might be interested.

We look forward to getting trail groups to present their on-the-ground knowledge in future meetings. If you have an idea for a topic, please let me know. I will work with you to present it to the other hui attendees.

Ngā mihi
Bernice
